Are Yaktrax true to size?
Yaktrax Walk sizes run small. If your shoe size is at the top of a size range shown below, you may be better off getting the next larger size, especially if you plan to wear them over heavy boots or shoes. If you can’t decide, choose the bigger size.
Can you run with Yaktrax?
Yes! Yaktrax are great for running in icy and snowy conditions. They allow you to extend your running season into the winter so you can maintain your fitness.
Can you use YakTrax for hiking?
Two traction devices we’ve used and liked for years are YakTrax and Kahtoola’s MICROspikes. Both of these are stretched over hiking boots or shoes, and can be removed relatively easily.
Can you wear Yaktrax on concrete?
Yaktrax® are not for use on gravel, concrete, or sanded roads cleared of snow. Avoid surfaces such as marble floors, or any non-icy, non-snowy surfaces when wearing Yaktrax®. Yaktrax® are not for indoor use. The improper use or installation of Yaktrax® could result in injury.
Can I wear Yaktrax on concrete?

While Yaktrax® are designed to provide greater traction on ice or packed snow, always exercise caution and use extreme care when walking, running, or working on ice and packed snow.
Can Yaktrax be used for hiking?
The best contender to compare to MICROspikes® is the Yaktrax Summit. Both are designed for hiking and working in packed snow and icy conditions. They are effective on steep and rugged trails as well as solid ice. And seriously, both would make a great gift for any hiker.
Do Yaktrax damage shoes?
Poor fitting of Yaktrax® can lead to their loss or damage When wearing Yaktrax® the Yaktrax® coils should sit flat on the sole of the shoe or boot. The outer band of the Yaktrax® should grip the entire outside edge of the footwear.
How do Yaktrax® fit?
As Yaktrax® fit on the outside of the footwear, it is the actual footprint or circumference that is relevant when you choose the correct size. A ladies casual shoe and a men’s working boot may share the same EU footwear size and yet have quite different footprint circumferences.
How do you measure Yaktrax® footprints?
The footprint circumference in our Yaktrax® Size Chart is often more accurate than shoe size alone. Measure in a loop around the outside edge of shoe or boot, as shown, where the Yaktrax® naturally grip the outside edge of the footwear.
What happens if my Yaktrax® are too small?
If the Yaktrax® are too small, they could become over-stretched and develop weak points which snap. If the size of Yaktrax® is too large for the footwear, the coils could extend beyond of the shoe or boot. Can you wear the Yaktrax run in the snow?
Run naturally on packed snow and ice with the Yaktrax Run’s combination of removable spikes and steel coils, providing 360° of unbeatable traction. Continue your training during the winter with the same stability you are accustomed to on dry surfaces. The Yaktrax Run can be worn in temperatures as low as ‑41° Fahrenheit.
