How much weight can air shocks hold?
1,200 lbs.
DESIGNED TO MAINTAIN VEHICLE RIDE HEIGHT Monroe Max-Air air shocks can be inflated or deflated as needed, up to 150 PSI, to maintain ride height when under load with additional weight up to 1,200 lbs. (Capacity is limited by vehicle suspension, tires and transmission. See vehicle owner’s manual for details.)
Are air shocks any good?
Why stay with air? Air shocks are typically lighter, more easily tuneable (being able to change their spring load via a shock pump, rather than a new coil spring), and work well with virtually any suspension linkage. Modern air shocks are highly tuneable, comparatively inexpensive, and robust.
Who makes good air shocks?
Currently at least five companies make air shocks (Sway-A-Way, Walker Evans Racing, Fox, King, and Rad-Flo), but the most prolific and one of the originators is Fox Racing Shox. In discussions with Dave Schlossberg of Poly Performance, we learned that air shocks are hot these days, and with good reason.
Is coil better than air shock?
If we were to evaluate both only on performance, a coil shock is superior. That’s because an air-spring shock requires tight seals to capture pressurized air. A coil, however, operates without seals because it doesn’t have to hold air under high pressure.
What are the best shocks for rock crawlers?
Incredibly strong yet lightweight hollow shock shafts further reduce weight on these shocks that are ideal for competition rock crawlers. The design of the off-road Factory Race Series air shock allows for infinite adjustability of the spring rate by varying the nitrogen charge pressure.
Are radflo shocks good for off-road?
Air Shock Radflo air shocks not only dampen, but also suspend your lightweight off-road vehicle without the need for additional springs. Easily shave weight from the suspension on your lightweight vehicle application without giving up the performance and control you need to stay ahead.
What is an off-road air shock?
The design of the off-road Factory Race Series air shock allows for infinite adjustability of the spring rate by varying the nitrogen charge pressure. FOX’s first air shock was invented by Bob Fox back in 1974 and has been highly refined in the 30-plus years we’ve been producing them.
Why choose air shocks for lightweight vehicle applications?
Easily shave weight from the suspension on your lightweight vehicle application without giving up the performance and control you need to stay ahead. The versatility and simplicity of air shocks is becoming increasingly popular among rock crawlers and other lightweight vehicle applications.
