How old do you have to be to volunteer at an animal shelter in Texas?
The SPCA of Texas offers age-appropriate volunteer opportunities for youth ages of 10 through 17, and families are welcome to volunteer their time together. We request that volunteers under the age of 15 bring a parent or guardian who is at least 21 years old to all volunteer shifts.
How old do you have to be to volunteer at Texas Humane Heroes?
16 years of age
Individual Volunteers Volunteers must be 16 years of age to be here independently. Volunteers 12-15 years old must be accompanied by a registered and trained adult (21+) volunteer at all times. Unfortunately, we cannot allow volunteers younger than 12.
How old do you have to be to volunteer at Austin Animal Center?
Participants must be at least 17 years old and will review and sign Austin Animal Center paperwork at their first shift. A photo ID will be required at each shift and training will be provided with each task. To get scheduled, please apply here.

Must be at least 16 years of age.
How do I volunteer for the Houston SPCA?
All applicants 18 years of age and older must complete a background screening.

- Choose Your Area of Care and Attend Training.

Does Houston SPCA euthanize?
We do not euthanize what we determine are adoptable animals.
What volunteers do at SPCA?
The time is spent walking, playing, socialising, giving one-on-one TLC and generally interacting with the dogs to the benefit of both the animals and the people.
What do you do when you volunteer at Austin Pets Alive?
ACTIVITIES INCLUDED: Medical Program- Our clinic sees hundreds of our foster pets and on-site animals each week. It is not open to the public. You can volunteer in the clinic, with administrative duties, surgery recovery and other tasks.
