We spent 2 nights in Kuala Tahan (closest place you can be to Taman Negara park entrance). We visited the park at the beginning of November, which is start of rainy season, but it was ok. We experienced sun and rain as well, but we were told it is like that anytime, because it is a tropical climate.
Is Kuala Taman Negara worth visiting?
Taman Negara was a mixed experience but worth visiting overall. It is surprisingly difficult to get to however so we ended up using the shuttle with NKS. We stayed in Kuala Tahan which is a small, quiet village. There are a couple of nice restaurants overlooking the river. To get to the rainforest you have to cross the river which was quite fun.

There are two options: Van only (KL Hotel Istana to Taman Negara, round trips available too) or van (KL Hotel Istana) via Kuala Tembeling (boat) to Taman Negara. The latter is a great option as you will experience lower parts of Taman Negara by boat.
