What is course forgiveness SDSU?
Repeat a course and have only the new grade calculated into your grade point average. Even though the old grade stays on your record, it is not factored into your GPA.

Can students take more than 12 units? Yes. You may enroll in up to 18 units without extra permission, and drop extra units by the add/drop deadline. If you need to officially enroll in over 15 units, you must receive permission from the Semester at SDSU Director.

College students can retake a class a maximum of 3 times, most of the time. If they want to retake it a fourth time, they have to write a special letter to the school. It might not be worth it to redo a class so many times, as you would graduate late.

Retaking a course may raise your student’s GPA (grade point average). In many schools, if a student retakes a course, the most recent grade will replace the lower grade in the student’s GPA. The earlier, lower grade will remain on the transcript, but will not be included in the GPA.
Can I retake a class if I got an F?
Some schools may not allow a student to retake a course, some may only allow a student to retake a course in which they have received an F, and some schools may allow a student to retake any course to improve the grade. The best thing would be for your student to discuss the option with their academic advisor.

Does a Master Plan of elective courses need to be approved?
*No design component. A master plan of elective courses must be approved by the undergraduate adviser as soon as the civil engineering major is declared. Students are required to see their undergraduate adviser prior to registration each semester.
