Are catch cans worth installing?
A catch can is recommended if you aren’t proactive in decarbonizing your engine, and maintaining clean piston rings, as it will help prevent some problems. If you decide that a catch can is good insurance, and worth the expense, definitely buy only a quality one.
Do you need a tune after a catch can?
The beauty of a catch can is it’s such a simple modification. No aftermarket tune is needed, and if you have a tune it does not need to be retuned.
Are oil catch cans a gimmick?
The answer is yes. While a catch can won’t stop every last particle of contaminant from entering the intake manifold and coating the valves in a direct-injection engine, the less unwanted buildup the better.
Can a catch can damage engine?
Curing the nonexistent problem of oil blow-by with a catch can, which pressures up the system and blows a seal, allowing sump oil to escape could have the nasty feedback effect of catastrophic engine failure, and you will not be covered by warranty.

Although a catch can could help your car’s engine run well for a long time, modifying the PCV system is illegal since it’s part of the engine’s emissions system. If a technician were to see an oil catch can installed on your car while performing an emissions test, they may fail you on the spot.

How much horsepower does a JLT cold air intake add?
