Sounds like a very fluffy and light pile sandwiched between breathable fabrics. I’ve got to try this first but I’d say it should last at least 10 years of moderate use.

Can you wash Polartec?

Most Polartec® fabric can be washed in warm water and tumbled dry on low and in most cases this will deliver the best post-wash feel and performance. However, every single Polartec® fabric can be machine-washed cold and line dried and a few of our fabrics require it.

Is R1 or R2 warmer?

R2 is warmer and less breathable than the R1. They offer very similar (same) durability and weather resistance capabilities. Techface comes first: So, compared to a non-Techface R2, any Techface R1 is actually going to be warmer, more durable & weather resistant and less breathable.

Is polar fleece windproof?

Regular polar fleece is not windproof and does not absorb moisture (although this is often seen as a benefit, per above).
