Do cash registers have keys?
Some cash registers have an ON/OFF switch on the back or side of the machine. Others may have a key on the front top of the machine. Turn on the machine, or turn the key to the REG (register) position. Newer registers may have a MODE button instead of a physical key.

The department keys are what you use to designate an item with a price. For example, you can ring up a head of lettuce for $1. You can program that head of lettuce on one of the department keys so the next time all you have to do is push that department key to complete the transaction.
What is the difference between a cash register slip and a cash register roll?
The slip gives information about where the item was purchased, at what date it was purchased, what was purchased, how much it cost and the amount of change given. Cash registers have two rolls on which till slips are printed. The one roll prints out the customer’s till slips.
What is the useful life of a cash register?
The life expectancy of a cash register is between 10-15 years, with upgrades around 5-7 years.
