How much do glider rides cost?
Gliders cost on average $60 per hour of flight time to rent. Flying clubs with monthly membership fees provide discounted rental rates as low as $20-40 per hour. Glider launch fees via aero tow average $35-45 per flight, however winch launches (less common in the US) average around $15 per flight.
Can I ride in a glider?
Riding in a sailplane (or glider, if you prefer) is the purest form of flying there is. You’ll be sitting in the front seat of our glider with your pilot flying from the rear seat behind you. As you are towed to altitude behind one of our towplanes, the view will be breath-taking.

How long does it take to learn to fly a glider?
A keen and capable person who can get to the gliding club once per week, sometimes flying twice per day, will progress quite quickly and could be flying solo in six months. This might be reduced if some intensive ‘course’ type training can be mixed in.
Is there a weight limit for gliding?
Gliders can take a wide range of different shapes and sizes of pilot: There is an upper weight limit of 110kg (242lb, 17st 4lb) for most aircraft. This is a safety limit based on the design of the seat and straps, and includes the weight of the parachute.

Scenic glider rides last about 25 minutes. You will fly with a FAA Certified Commercial Pilot. Our towplane will tow you up to 4000 feet (MSL) where you will release from the towplane and soar quietly back to the Sky Soaring airport. Scenic views of the Hampshire countryside are in every direction. On clear days you can see the Chicago skyline.
