Ardbeg does state that Corryvreckan is a single malt Scotch whisky from Islay which is bottled at 57.1% alcohol by volume and…that is about it. Other Ultimate Range offerings either feature age statements (10 Years Old) or at least details on cask selection and the use of non-chill filtering, such as with Uigeadail.

What casks are used in Ardbeg Corryvreckan?
The Corryvreckan matures in a mix of Ex-Bourbon casks and French Virgin Oak. There are rumours that more French Virgin Oak casks have been used in the more recent batches as it becomes more and more difficult to obtain sufficient quantities of good Bourbon casks.
How old is Ardbeg an OA?
10-year old
An Oa seems designed to sit between the ever-reliable Ardbeg 10-year old, and the higher strength (and even more tasty) Uigeadail, or at least it does when it comes to price, but it’s actually a considerably softer dram than all of its stable-mates.
How is Ardbeg aged?
It is Ardbeg single malt, using heavily-peated malt (55 to 65 ppm) from the maltings at Port Ellen (Ardbeg’s own kiln-fired maltings closed in 1977) and aged for at least 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels. The whisky is batched and bottled without chill filtration at 46% ABV.
