OpenLearn includes over 1,000 free courses derived from the OU’s curriculum and dozens of specially commissioned. Is it worth studying at open university?
Open University degrees are respected. They require the same level of commitment as a regular degree and at the end of your course, you will be awarded a bachelors degree or masters degree depending on your level of study.
Is there an age limit for Open University?
An Open University Student must normally be aged 16 or over by the start date of the module for which they wish to enrol or register. This Policy sets out the exceptional admission criteria for Students under 16.

Open University qualifications are two-thirds the cost of an equivalent qualification offered at a campus-based university. That’s a saving of over 30%.
Can I go to university without qualifications?

Can you go to university at any age?
The main difference when applying to university as a mature student is the entry requirements. A mature student can be as young as 21 but many are in their late 20s/early 30s or older, and may have left school without the necessary A Levels or equivalent.

Mature students are defined as any student aged 21 or over at the start of their studies. Just over a half are aged between 21 and 24, 38 per cent between 25 and 39, and 10 per cent are over 40 when they commence their courses.
