Is the DofE Expedition hard?
Expeditions are meant to be challenging. Sometimes it might feel a little overwhelming, but keeping positive will make a huge difference to you and your team. There will be times throughout the day when maybe you’re lost or far from the campsite and everyone feels a little low.
Do you have to do the expedition for DofE?
5: No practice expedition A practice expedition is no longer a requirement at Bronze-level. However, participants are still expected to reach the skills and fitness levels appropriate for completing the remotely supervised, qualifying expedition.

Can you do DofE at any age?
Any young person can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, background or location. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first.
How long are DofE expeditions?
The expedition must be of the correct duration and meet the minimum hours of planned activity. Bronze: A minimum of 2 days, 1 night; 6 hours planned activity each day. Silver: A minimum of 3 days, 2 nights; 7 hours planned activity each day. Gold: A minimum of 4 days, 3 nights; 8 hours planned activity each day.
Are there showers at DofE?
No showers The lack of showers on a DofE expedition can be a challenge for some, never mind when facing your period. Some campsites may have shower facilities, and if your expedition provider permits it, then you may be able get in a shower or two — but don’t count on it.
Do employers look at DofE?
Employers don’t care if someone has done the DofE: they care if someone has a skill that is transferrable to the job in hand, and if that skill was something a person learned on expedition etc then you have indeed answered your own question.
