What is the pressure rating of Swagelok fittings?
Features: Temperatures from 70 to 400°F (20 to 204°C); Working pressures up to 275 psig (18.9 bar); Sizes from 1/8 to 1/2 in.
Can Swagelok fittings be reused?
If you have made changes in the system design, by moving a fitting to a new location or changing the tubing, you can’t re-use the nuts and ferrules, but you can still re-use the fitting bodies.
How does Swagelok seal?
A Swagelok tube fitting forms a gas seal by means of the burnishing that occurs in two places: between the front ferrule and the tube fitting body, and between the front ferrule and the tubing.
What determines the pressure rating of a compression Swagelok connection?
The pressure rating of a Swagelok tube fitting depends on the lowest rated component in the system in which it is installed. Sometimes the lowest pressure rated component is a pipe thread, a pressure gauge, or a valve.
How is Swagelok fitting measured?
To determine whether your threads are straight or tapered, use a caliper to measure the male or female thread’s crest-to-crest diameter on the first, fourth, and last full threads. If the diameter increases on a male end or decreases on a female end, the thread is tapered.
Can you reuse a ferrule?
Ferrule can never be reused once they have been compressed. This connector is directly placed over the pipe and the nut is tightened compressing the ferrule between the pipe and the body of the fitting. Flare less-tube connectors can not be reused because of the characteristic nature of the process.
What does VCR stand for Swagelok?
vacuum coupling radiation
VCR means vacuum coupling radiation, providing leak-tight service from vacuum to positive pressure. The VCO line uses an O-ring to form a seal.
What is VCR Swagelok?
Swagelok® VCR fittings offer the high purity of a metal- to-metal seal, providing leak-tight service from vacuum to positive pressure . The seal on a VCR assembly is made when the gasket is compressed by two beads during the engagement of a male nut or body hex and a female nut .
How do you use Preswaging tool?
Instructions
- Slip the nut and ferrule(s) over the the end of the tubing,
- Insert the tubing into the end of the tool.
- Finger tighten the nut.
- Use a wrench to tighten the nut 1 ¼ turns.
- Loosen the nut and remove the tube from the tool. The tubing is now ready to install in the fitting.

Can I use Swagelok Tube adapters in other fittings?
When installing pipe elbows or tees, it is often difficult to align the fitting with the desired run. • Swagelok tube adapters are to be used ONLY in Swagelok tube fittings. Use in fittings made by other manufacturers may result in leakage or slippage.
What are the pressure ratings for valves with Swagelok Tube Fitting ends?
Pressure ratings for valves with Swagelok tube fitting ends may be lower due to the tubing pressure rating. Refer to Tubing Datacatalog, MS-01-107, for additional information. ➀ Temperature ratings are limited to 150°F (65°C) max with UHMWPE packing.
