What has a 5 on 5 lug pattern?
This was the bolt pattern used for Cadillac and other luxurious vehicles from the 1950’s. This includes classic Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac. So if you’re using a big Olds rear end, you likely have a 5×5 bolt pattern.
Are all trailer 5 bolt patterns the same?
While a 5-Bolt on 4.5″ is standard and by far the most common among trailer wheel 5-bolt patterns, there are times in which the trailer manufacturer uses a different pattern such as 5 on 5″.
How do you measure trailer wheel size?
The way you would measure it is you would measure from the center of this one wheel all the way to the edge of the wheel or the hole across from it. So in this case if you measure from the center all the way across to the edge of the wheel it is 4-1/2 inches, so this bolt pattern would be 5 on 4-1/2.
Can I put normal tires on a trailer?
Don’t. Trailer tires and passenger car tires have different structures to respond to different stresses. Using a trailer tire on your car, or a car tire on your trailer, could lead to disastrous consequences. Passenger vehicles interact with the road through their tires.
Is there a difference between trailer wheels and car wheels?
Vehicles use wheels with high positive offsets which puts the tire closer to the frame of the vehicle and since trailer wheels are designed to have a zero offset so that there is even tread wear as they tend to deal with heavier loads.
Can I put truck rims on my trailer?
Technically if the bolt pattern and weight ratings are compatible with your vehicle then you can fit trailer wheels on a car but the biggest problem you are going to have is proper tire placement.
Can you use truck wheels on a trailer?
As long as you find the right wheel with the right weight rating, you are good. However, the taller you get in rim, the wider you get in rim, and then you are going to get into width clearance issues. I run LT E-rated truck tires on my dually AND my boat trailer.
