Can the RSPCA break into your home?
Society Inspectors have NO special legal powers whatsoever. They have NO special powers to arrest offenders. They have NO right to enter your home to inspect your animals or to demand that you answer any of their questions.
How long does it take RSPCA to investigate?
Complaints will be acknowledged within five working days and then replied to in full within a further 25 working days. Although we reply to the majority of complaints within 25 working days, if the matter is complex and requires greater investigation it may take longer.
What do the RSPCA do on a home visit?
The homevisitor’s role is to ensure that your facilities are suitable for the animal you have chosen. They can offer advice on the financial aspects and long term commitment needed when offering a home to a rescue animal. Your homevisitor will need to see vaccination certificates for any animals you currently own.
What is classed dog neglect?
Animal neglect situations are those in which the animal’s caretaker or owner fails to provide food, water, shelter or veterinary care sufficient for survival. It can be either deliberate or unintentional, but either way, the animal suffers terribly.

We may disclose your information to state and territory RSPCA organisations which are members of RSPCA Australia, and those organisations will use your information in accordance with their privacy policies. We will also disclose your information when legally required.
