A message from the owners Early one evening in 2000, Sondra and Larry Edger stood looking out over Clearwater Bay behind what is now Backwaters on Sand Key. The great view, relaxing deck and island atmosphere clinched the idea for a casual, but slightly fashionable seafood and steak restaurant.

Why is it called backwaters?
The place is called backwaters because the lake water is actually fresh river water that comes down from the river and is then used for the paddy fields whenever the need be, and later the lake water as it goes ahead, merges with the ocean in Kochi.

Is the backwater Tini seafood salad any good?
One of the ladies had the Backwater Tini Seafood Salad the she said was excellent. Third person had the Crab Cake Sandwich. This one was very good but not like a true Maryland Crabcake.
