Park Hours Sycamore Cove & Mugu Beach parking lots open at 8am and close at sunset. Sycamore Canyon & Thornhill Broome campground gates open at 8am and close at 10pm. No entry after 10pm.
Are dogs allowed at Point Mugu beach?
Dogs on a leash are allowed in the Park’s day use areas, campgrounds and beaches. Dogs are not allowed on the backcountry trails or dirt roads.

The views include gorgeous rocky bluffs, sand dunes, and two major river canyons. There are two camping grounds, Thornhill Broome and Sycamore Canyon.
How long does it take to climb Mugu Peak?
At about the 4 mile mark, the trail begins to swing around the north flank of mugu peak, eventually traversing along the steep hillside facing the ocean. This is a breathtaking section of trail with wonderful views of the ocean and the Navy base. At about 6 miles you will find a cutoff trail that take you up to the top of the 1266 foot Mugu peak.
