Pignose Industries was started by Terry Kath and other members/associates of the band, Chicago, in 1972. They introduced their product (designed and patented by Wayne Kimbell and Richard Edlund) to the music industry at the 1973 Summer NAMM show, with tongue-in-cheek hyperbole, as the “Legendary” Pignose Amplifier.
Do I really need a bass amp?
Since bass guitars produce much lower frequency sounds than bass guitars, so you will need an amp that’s built specifically for a bass guitar. Bass amps support a high power output and low frequencies without distorting the sound.

My Hog 30 amp was out of warranty and had a defective input jack (both front and back, actually). I’ve been all over the web and local repair shops with either no response or ridiculous price ($125 repair for a $139 amp). I’ve also read posts in several forums about how unresponsive Pignose is.
