What is Purple Poo Tarleton?
The Purple Poo is the oldest spirit organization in the state of Texas. This group consists of 20 members, 10 guy and 10 girls, with the mission to promote the spirit of Tarleton. The Purple Poo evolved from the TTP/TTS spirit organizations.
Why is it called Purple Poo?
Formed when Tarleton was a junior college, the Ten Tarleton Peppers (TTP) and Ten Tarleton Sisters (TTS) date to 1921 and 1923. They became collectively known as the Purple Poo after a glob of paint fell on a canvas during a sign-painting session.

Texan Rider is Tarleton’s current mascot that at one time rode a horse during the football games (tradition was discontinued due to the renovated stadium), and is also recognized by his/her purple chaps. The Texan Rider has been the mascot of Tarleton since 1961 when the student body chose the Texans and TexAnns to represent its athletic teams.
