There is a headspace difference between 5.56 and .223. The 5.56 No-Go is about a .223 Field gauge. They do make head space gauges for all 3 chambers. I’ve got a set of 5.56 NATO and a set of Wylde. My experience is if barrel is stamped 223/556 a 223 gauge will work if stamped only 556 then 556 gauge required a 223 will not.
