There is the Katakana character ヴ (vu), which is ウ with 2 dots on its upper right, but we have no Hiragana equivalent for that. That is because there are no words of Japanese origin that use this sound. This V sound has been written in Katakana using the letter ヴ for a long time.

Tae Kim’s A Guide to Japanese Grammar is one of those books that I had heard was good every time it was mentioned, but I never really got around to checking it out for myself until recently. I picked up a copy of it on Amazon the other day and started reading it. And let me tell you, this book is GOOD!
