What is the algorithm for f2l?
F2L or First Two Layers is the second step of the CFOP method, which aims to solve the first two bottom layers of a 3×3. Each algorithm solves a pair (an edge and a corner) into their designated location. Each case is recognized by the position and orientation of the two pieces in relation to the target slot.
How many algorithms does advanced f2l have?
There are 41 different variations for solving the corner-edge pieces in the F2L step. Many of these cases are very similar to each other (mirrors) and therefore use similar solutions. The variations are divided into groups according to where the corner & edge pieces are located in the Rubik’s cube.
How do you master f2l?
From a fellow learner, here’s all the tips people told me/I learned while learning F2L:
- prioritize solving pairs into the back first.
- Learn to use your left hand for the mirror cases, also conserves rotations.
- Learn how to insert pairs into every corner, so you don’t have to rotate and insert from FR every time.

How To Solve The Second Layer Of The Rubik’s Cube (F2L) Now that we’ve finished the white face , let’s turn the cube upside down because we don’t need to see the solved side anymore. The solution of the Rubik’s Cube could be done intuitively until this point but this is where most people get stuck.
