Are Magura brakes compatible with Shimano discs?
Registered. I switch wheels between magura rotors and shimano rotors and it works fine. I prefer the magura rotors though as that extra thickness is reassuring. You do have to pump the brakes up once or twic at most to get them to settled.
Are Magura rotors any good?
It is well balanced as is its counterpart, the Shimano SL-Rotor. It also has both great power capabilities and minimum weight. It may lack a perfect disc brake system, but it’s a good disc brake system at a good price. The price of the Magura MTS disc brake is set as most products from Magura are.
Can I use Shimano brake fluid in Magura brakes?
Magura blood, Shimano brake fluid or LHM automotive fluids are all the same but their color. You can use any of them, even mix them together to make the color that you prefer.
Do Magura brakes use mineral oil?
All MAGURA brakes use low viscosity mineral oil (Royal Blood) as hydraulic medium.
How thick are hope floating rotors?
Only available in 160 or 140mm sizes and with a black centre, these lightweight rotors are only 1.8mm thick as opposed to the standard 2mm – which gives incredible weights: 160mm is 78g and the 140mm is just 64g! Add the Ti bolt kit to reduce weight even further!
Can I use Shimano fluid in Magura brakes?
Can I use normal mineral oil in Magura brakes?
Mixing oils of the same type is OK. Those mineral brake fluids are the same type, classed as LHM and they are the same density. You could even mix a different density of the same type, LHS or RR brake fluids for an example, since they are mineral oils as well.
Do you have to use royal blood in Magura brakes?
All MAGURA brakes use low viscosity mineral oil (Royal Blood) as hydraulic medium. Contrary to DOT brake liquid it does not irritate human skin nor damage the paint off your frame.
How do I test my Magura Mt brakes?
Check your system for correct filling level, seal and bite point. Perform a quick function test and then assess the braking force and bite point while moving. Depending on the model and setting, your MAGURA MT might have a softer feel than other brakes when your bike is stationary. This is because of its very high leverage ratio.
How do Magura’s new MDR-P and MDR-C rotors reduce noise?
Vibrations from deep-treaded tyres and oscillating bike components can generate irritating noise, especially in E-MTBs. MAGURA’s new MDR-P and MDR-C rotors have special stiffening elements that block resonations. Their larger mass increases the heat window preventing and brake fading. Choose the correct rotor for your range of application.
Why are my Magura Mt brakes so soft?
Depending on the model and setting, your MAGURA MT might have a softer feel than other brakes when your bike is stationary. This is because of its very high leverage ratio. Thanks to this design, MAGURA brakes modulate very precisely even under very difficult conditions.
