What is Pukani rock?
Pukani Rock – Fiji. Interesting shaped rock with many small cavities offering refuge for smaller fish and reef animals. A good coverage of different colours of coralline algae make this a highly desirable rock. As Pukani rock is lighter than other varieties you get more volume per kg.
Is Pukani rock good?
Pukani is the best rock, but you need to rid it of the PO4 right away so you don’t have these problem. I added 50 pounds dry Pukani to my 180 and got a little outbreak but got on top of the PO4 right away and it went away on its own in about 4 weeks.

Is Marco rock man made?

Does reef saver rock need to be cured?
Reef Saver is pretty clean rock, but we generally recommend curing any rock going into a system with livestock. On the other hand, if this is a new tank with no critters, you could very well give the rock a good rinse and then cycle/cure it at the same time in the display.

If you buy at a LFS it can cost anywhere from $5 to $12 a pound. However, there are always people breaking down tanks and selling live rock from $2 to $4 a pound.
What is Aquacultured live rock?
Our live rock is calcium-based limestone rock that is put in the ocean for 9-10 years and then harvested by hand in small batches, leaving existing reefs and rock beds intact and undisturbed. Most other live rock is out of water for days after harvesting, causing much of the life, including the coralline algae, to die.
