Why do you not use X1 oil?

Several reasons why I do not use X1. 1. For whatever reason BMW does not approve that oil in the U.S. It is approved in EU and Canada, but I do not know what is going on with M1 and BMW. BMW also took away their LL-01 approval from M1 for their 0W40 oil. I have CPO so god forbid something happens with engine, that might be an issue. 2.

What is the difference between X1 and 5W30?

It has higher SAPS (0.8% sulfated ash). 3. It has lower HTHS then 5W30 (3.5 compare to 3.58). 4. 0W or 5W really does not matter unless you are starting car at -35 or below. Only advantage that X1 has is that it meets MB 229.52 which means more stringent oxidation requirements. I change it every 5K. But 7.5-8K is OK too.
