What is Certificate of Merit MTAC?
The Music Teachers’ Association of California® (MTAC) sponsors the music study and evaluation program Certificate of Merit® (CM). Initiated in 1933, Certificate of Merit® provides a standardized music curriculum for musical excellence in performance, technique, ear training, sight reading/singing and music theory.
How many cm levels are there?
CM LEVELS. Each instrument has its own 10-level or 11-level syllabus, detailing a specific set of requirements. Teachers will decide the appropriate level for each student. Students and teachers work together on level-appropriate selected literature, technique elements, sight reading, theory, and ear training.
What is passing score for MTAC theory?
A passing score is 31 correct answers out of 44 total questions. Teachers with passing scores are automatically unblocked in the Online System. If you took the test and did not receive a confirmation email and are still blocked, please contact [email protected].
How many RCM levels are there?

RCM – The Basics There are 10 grades in the RCM, with an additional preparatory grade (kind of like kindergarten), and an ARCT level, which is the most advanced step of the RCM system. Assuming they’ve put in the time, the average student can expect to reach a grade 8 level by the time they complete high school.

What does Bill do for MTAC?
Commitment to the MTAC State organization includes service to the Martin, Churchill and Masur administrations, and Bill is currently serving as Membership Secretary, with three tours as Convention Chair. He serves as organist and accompanist in several church communities.
