When should I hear back from the Loran scholarship?
Our application process takes place annually in September/October. Shortlisted candidates are notified at least ten days before their semi-final interview date.
How many Loran scholarships are there?
Every year, we assess over 5,000 applicants and select up to 36 promising young Canadians as Loran Scholars, based on evidence of integrity, courage, compassion, grit, and a high level of personal autonomy.
How do you win the Loran Award?
High-School Students Must:
- Be attending their final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school.
- Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.
- Have a minimum cumulative average of 85%.
- Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.

Can you be a scholar without a degree?
The best way to learn without getting a formal education is to read a lot. Read as much as you can at every opportunity. This, in and of itself, can make you a scholar (since a scholar is really just someone who is learning all the time).
