What is NSK grease?
NSK Grease – AS2 (80 gram). Is a standard grease for general NSK linear guides, ball screws and monocarriers. Commonly used in many applications because of its high base oil viscosity, high load resistance, and stability in oxidization.
What is specification of grease?
Proper grease specification requires all of the components of oil selection and more. Other special considerations for grease selection include thickener type and concentration, consistency, dropping point and operating temperature range, worked stability, oxidation stability, wear resistance, etc.
How many different grades of grease are there?
Greases are classified into nine consistency grades (000, 00, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) established by the National Lubrication and Grease Institute (NLGI). NLGI #000 greases are nearly fluid, while NLGI #6 greases are nearly solid. The most commonly used grease is NLGI #2.
What is the grade of grease?
Classification
NLGI number | ASTM worked (60 strokes) penetration at 25 °C tenths of a millimetre | Appearance |
---|---|---|
0 | 355-385 | very soft |
1 | 310-340 | soft |
2 | 265-295 | “normal” grease |
3 | 220-250 | firm |
What lubricant is used for linear bearings?
Linear systems typically use lithium-based greases, with no solid additives such as MoS2 (molybdenum disulfide) or PTFE (Teflon), in consistency class between 0 and 3. These greases perform well in high-load applications and have good stability against oxidation.
What is grease number?
The NLGI number is a measure of the grease’s consistency as indicated by its worked penetration value. The penetration test measures how deep a standard cone falls into a grease sample in the tenths of millimeters. Each NLGI grade corresponds to a specific worked penetration value range.
What is the density of grease?
between about 700 and 950 kg/m3
Density. Density means the volume weight of a substance. In oils, it is usually indicated in the temperature of +15°C or +20°C, in units kg/m3. Lubricant densities range between about 700 and 950 kg/m3, depending on the quality, viscosity and additive content of the lubricant.
How is grease measured?
To calculate grease quantity, you need the bearing’s physical dimensions (primarily the outside diameter and width). Once you have these two measurements (in inches), you multiply them together and then multiply by 0.114. The resulting answer is the grease quantity in ounces.
What is NSK® GRS PS2 grease?
NSK® GRS PS2 is the standard grease for NSK® miniature linear guides and works well in low temperature operations making it ideal for small equipment with a light load.
What kind of Grease do you use on NSK linear guides?
