Who set up the Clink restaurant?

The Clink Restaurant concept was founded by Alberto Crisci in 2009 and are a major part of The Clink Charity’s prisoner rehabilitation initiatives. The charity aims to break the cycle of crime by changing attitudes, creating second chances and reducing reoffending rates.
What is the Clink Charity?
The Clink Charity works to reduce reoffending. We are a unique charity, training serving prisoners in catering skills, within a real-life work environment whilst helping them gain academic qualifications.
Do UK prisons have restaurants?
At present there are Clink restaurants at four prisons: Cardiff; Brixton in south London; High Down in Surrey; and Styal in Cheshire. Brixton Clink is ranked 23 out of 17,000 restaurants in London on the customer comparison website Tripadvisor.
How long does a visit to the clink take?

Is HMP Brixton still open?
The prison today HMP Brixton no longer acts as a local prison, having been changed to a Category C training establishment in 2012.
Does the clink serve alcohol?
Alcohol. Please note that our restaurants do not serve alcohol as they are training environments.
How old do you have to be to go to the clink?
WHAT TO EXPECT. Visits to The Clink Brixton must be pre-booked at least 72 hours before arrival. As we are located within a Category-C prison we have to complete a security check on all people visiting before a booking can be confirmed. All visitors must be over 18.
What does the Clink do in prisons?
In May 2014, The Clink entered into a women’s prison for the first time, launching The Clink Gardens at HMP Send, Surrey. The project provides prisoners with the opportunity to gain experience and City & Guilds NVQs in horticulture. Prisoners grow, cultivate and harvest crops and rear chickens for eggs.
Is the Clink Restaurant at HMP High Down open?
The Clink Restaurant at HMP High Down is closed until early 2022. The team are currently dealing with an extremely large backlog of enquiries for deposits, rebooking tables and new bookings. Are the Clink Restaurants Ofsted regulated?
The Clink Restaurants are registered catering colleges regulated by OFSTED, who gave ‘outstanding’ reports following visits to High Down (2012 / 2015) and Brixton (2015).
Can I pay by debit card at the prison restaurant?
Please note that we are an alcohol-free restaurant as we are located on prison grounds. You can pay by debit card, credit card or gift vouchers for your meal and any retail items. A discretionary 12.5% will be added in place of a service charge to help support the work of the charity.
