Are strap locks worth it?
If you use, have used, or plan to use a strap, you can benefit from strap locks. If you can spend $300 on a pedal (wink, wink), $3,000 on a custom guitar, or if you’re crazy enough to buy those ridiculous $1,000 power cables for “better tone”, you can absolutely afford strap locks to protect your investments.
Do rubber strap locks work?
At its most basic, a one-piece strap lock is something usually made of rubber or plastic that fits over your existing strap pin, locking the strap in place. While basic, there’s no harm in using these one-piece locks because – at the end of the day – they actually work!
Are strap locks interchangeable?
One thing I would warn is that the Schaller type strap locks sold in bulk on Ebay are knock offs that are not compatible with real Schaller strap locks. They are slightly different sized and even though they work OK they are not interchangeable with the real thing.

What happened to PRS straplok screws?
PRS uses oversized strap buttons and screws, so the existing screw hole was already too large for the included Straplok screw, and the head of the original PRS screw was just slightly too big to fit through the Straplok button. So I guess I will be keeping the stock strap buttons and a traditional strap on that guitar.
How secure are the strap locks on the Ovation?
The locks are very secure, they’re certainly not going to come off, unless there’s some sort of nuclear explosion. I had these on my Six string Ovation when I bought it they are excellent strap locking, guitar saving accessories. When My 12 string Ovation arrived I was disappointed that it did not feature the same but standard black strap buttons.
