Are Novatec hubs any good?
Easily rebuildable, light and durable, especially for their very fair gram count. You can still also find replacement parts if needed easily. I put 2200 miles on a set I built up a year ago and they are still nice and smooth. That said, these are NOT simply throw them on and disregard normal maintenance.
Are Novatec hubs sealed?
Novatec uses standard sealed industrial bearings (NBK or EZO) so you should be able to find replacement bearings easily in your local hardware store.
Who makes Hunt wheel hubs?
Novatec
The hubs are Hunt branded, but are manufactured by Novatec, and offer 3° of engagement via 6 pawls (3 of which engage at any given time). The Carbon H_Impact wheels are available with a standard freehub, XD driver, or Microspline, all for the same price.
How long can a motor run in service factor?
If the theoretical life expectancy of this motor was 10 years, it could be expected to last 1.5 years when operated continuously at the SF load. Although many other factors may also affect motor life, this example illustrates how important temperature considerations are in the proper application of the equipment.
What does service factor mean?
Service factor – SF – is a measure of periodically overload capacity at which a motor can operate without beeing damaged. Sponsored Links. The service factor – SF – is a measure of periodically overload capacity at which a motor can operate without damage.
Why are Freehubs so loud?
Loudness in the freehub/freebody is usually due to the very light oil used to lubricate the inner parts. Thicker oil can be used to lessen the noise and even grease in some cases, but it’s high viscosity is pointed at for not being so efficient.
Are Hunt hubs loud?
The freewheels on our hubs are either 3 or 4 pawl circular spring design as found on many high end hubs. They might be noisier than some other hubs but this is generally regarded as a sign of good engineering. This is the sound of positive engagement of the pawls in the hub shell.
Are Hunt wheels Chinese?
All Hunt products are developed and tested here in the UK, but the parts are sourced from overseas, and the wheels built in Taiwan, a contrast with the method of another Sussex bike brand, Strada, but something that is certainly reflected in the price.
Is a higher service factor better?
A motor operating continuously at any service factor greater than 1 will have a reduced life expectancy compared to operating at rated nameplate horsepower. Insulation life and bearing life are reduced by the service factor load.”
Can you overspeed a VFD?
With the use of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), motors can be run at higher than 60 Hz, known as an overspeed condition, typically as direct drive fan wall/plenum fans (per NIH DRM 6.2. 4.2, the maximum operating speed is 90 Hz).
What does SF stand for on a motor?
As per the standards, a motor’s nameplate should indicate the service factor as “SF”. The standard which defines the service factor for motors and generators is the MG-1 standard, which in turn defines powers and speeds.
