What size earth is in 16mm T&E?
Just doing a periodic on some offices, and each office has a small mains unit fed with a piece of 16mm t&e, they are relying on the 6mm earth in the cable for the main earth.
Do Submains have to be RCD protected?
A 100mA Timed RCD is used to supply a submain that is used to supply a consumer unit with 30mA RCD’s. Depending on the current installation and earthing arrangement, you may not need the timed RCD with any other provided earthing system.
What size CPC is in a 16mm twin and earth?
16 sqmm cable has 6 sqmm CPC.
Are 16mm tails OK?
I agree with OMS 16mm tails are fine for a 80A incomer. Taking diversity into account 80A is more than enough for most size houses….See Also:

Is CPC the same as earth?
CPC stands for Circuit Protective Conductor, which is basically the earth wire for the circuit and forms part of a system to join together all exposed conductive (metal) parts and connect them to the main earthing terminal If it has been recommended that a CPC needs extending, you should use a registered electrician to …

How do you size a subpanel?
Subpanel Coverage Area Measure the length and width of each room and multiply them together to find the square footage of the room. Add up the square footage of all of the rooms to find the total square footage. Multiply the total square footage by 3 (watts) to complete the calculation.
What is the maximum Ze for a TNCS system?
Protective Multiple Earthing (PME) (TN-C-S system) The maximum external earth fault loop impedence Ze is 0.35 ohms.
How many amps can 16mm tails carry?
16mm is fine on 80 amp if clipped direct or buried in masonry (method C). In duct, trunking or conduit, it would need to be on a 60amp.
What are 16mm tails rated at?
16mm tails are rated at 87amps.
Is it OK to use RCD as main switch?
1 – can you use the RCD as a main switch for the installation – yes, all RCCB’s that meet BS EN 61008 are rated for isolation.
What is the CPC in the 16mm2 T&E?
The main earth terminal would be connected with a 16mm2 main earth conductor on to the PME. So, if the origin is wired correctly with 16mm2 main earth conductor the earth size is correct at the origin. The main earth conductor is therefore sized correctly. So the cpc in the 16mm2 T&E is 6mm2.
What size MCB do I need for sub-main JP?
Sub-main JP, the sub-circuits being the 32amp ring ‘main’, 20amp AC supply and 6amp lighting circuit. I would also look to be using a type C MCB for the sub-main.
How deep is too deep for a twin earth sub board?
He says the twin n earth is greater than 50mm deep , all and all without further info the 16mm and 6mm cpc is probably more than adequate (assuming the sub board is in the same building as origin ) Click to expand… If it’s in the same building the chances of it NOT being < 50mm are, lets face it, practically zero.
Would you use T+E cable for a single phase submain?
I personally would not use T+E, but not for the reasons sighted. SWA internally for a tiny single phase submain could be considered overkill. The earth size is based on the incomer for a pme, adiabatic can be used for tns. Any twin and skin cable less than buried less than 50mm needs 30ma rcd protection, submain or not.
