Here is a rough estimate of cost for shipping and handling: For 15-300 birds Step 1: 20.00 flat fee Step 2: 15-100 x $0.27 per bird charge. 101-150 x $0.25 per bird charge, 151-300 x $0.23 per bird charge. Step 3: 20.00 + per bird charge= shipping cost. Example 15 birds is 24.05, 25 is 26.75, 50 is 33.50, 100 is 47.00.
Is it OK to keep a rooster with laying hens?
Owning a rooster so that you can breed your chickens is generally not a good idea. In allowing your hens to have chicks, you will end up with several more roosters. Although roosters can be kept together when they are young, as they mature they will often start fighting, which can lead to serious injuries.

Newly hatched chicks have their 3 day supply of yolk still in their system to sustain them for their trip to your home. We ship every Monday and Wednesday and your birds should arrive at your post office or mailing address within 2 days. Your confirmation notice will give you your hatch/ship date.

What is your experience with cackle hatchery?
My first experience with cackle hatchery was a great one. I ordered the hatchery surprise box guarantee of 40 live chicks and I received 52 on 3/30/16 all alive and healthy with no deaths and it’s been a week. Love the variety I received as well! I will definately continue to order from them in the future. Yay for surprises!!!!

All healthy and active, there is a Facebook page that will help u identify what is in your box, “cackle hatchery surprise box identification” after receiving my box and talking so positive about it,a friend will be ordering her box soon. Would definitely order the surprise box again. Chicken math at its finest! We LOVE our chicks.
How many chicks come with the hatchery Suprise?
We ordered the Hatchery Suprise which comes with approx 40 chicks, and 4 Rouen ducklings….what we so appreciatively received was 52 chicks, 4 Rouen, and 1 White Pekin!! This was the best surprise ever! I’d post pictures with this review, but alas, there’s not an option for it.
