C-41 is a chromogenic color print film developing process introduced by Kodak in 1972, superseding the C-22 process. C-41, also known as CN-16 by Fuji, CNK-4 by Konica, and AP-70 by AGFA, is the most popular film process in use, with most photofinishing labs devoting at least one machine to this development process.

How long does C41 developer last?
The instructions say that when stored in a tightly sealed container, the chemicals should last from 8 – 12 weeks. I have not yet used a batch past about 6 weeks. This will make for a good future experiment, developing half a roll in 12 week old chemicals and half a roll in a fresh batch to see the difference.

How long does a unicolor C-41 kit last?
In my experience, Unicolor lasts 2-3 weeks, even with squeezing the air out of the bottles and filtering all solutions with coffee filters between runs. I develop 15 rolls per 1-liter kit , saving up those rolls and developing them all within 1 to 1.5 weeks without any time compensation. Results are great.
