How do I access my Nuig Library online?
If you are a registered student or member of staff, it is possible to access all online information resources from off-campus. Simply follow the database links from the Library Catalogue and login as directed. It is essential to login otherwise the service provider will not recognise you as being from NUI Galway.
Can anyone use Nuig Library?
Registered external members are welcome to use the Library, however, we ask that external members use the Library in the evenings or at weekends when it is not busy. You will need an up to date card to enter the Library.
How do I find a book in NUIG Library?
Books are shelved in Dewey number (Call Number) order. To find the book you need on the shelves take note of its Print Location and Call Number. You will find this information on the Library catalogue.
Can alumni use Nuig Library?
All graduates (alumni) of NUI Galway are entitled to free lifetime access to the library. Due to terms of publisher/provider license agreements, off-campus access to electronic resources is only for current NUI Galway students and staff. There is a charge if you want to borrow books: 6 months – €30; 12 months – €60.
How do I remove a book from my Nuig library?
Borrowing Books There are machines on all floors of the Library. You must always have your ID card with you to use the machines. There are easy to follow instructions on the screen, please ensure you leave the book on the machine for a few seconds while the loan is added to your account.

What time does Gmit open?
June 20th – September 2022 Monday – Friday 9.30am – 5.00pm (Summer Hours). If you have any symptoms of Covid-19 you must not come to the Library. If you have been in close contact with someone that has tested positive for COVID19 you must not visit the library.
