The DIN connector is an electrical connector that was originally standardized in the early 1970s by the Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN), the German national standards organization. There are DIN standards for various different connectors.
How are plug pins numbered?
Pins on male connectors are numbered. The numbering* goes from right to left, viewed from the outside of the connector with the pins upward and facing the viewer. The female counterparts are the inverse of the male plugs, and their numbering is from left to right.
