Not as pungent and hoppy as when this was a smaller brewery yet still unmistakably Stone. Good balance in the nose leads to an overall balanced flavor profile. Hop bitterness and character take charge but the malt sweetness is ever present. Great medium bodied mouth feel with a satisfying and lingering hop bite.

What would make a perfect IPA?

That would make it better towards perfection. The quintessential west coast/San Diego IPA. Defining the dry (for an ale) citrus/pine hop attack with oh-so light subtle malt making the perfect balance. 6.9% abv keeps it out of the heady range and if not exactly sessionable, much more so then ales only 1/2% to 1% higher can be.

What do you think about self-serve beer?

I picked up a self-serve can for around $3 or something, the flavor is amazing, it is fresh, the smell and alcohol content is great and not overwhelming for being around 7%. Very great beer, I give it a 98.
