The best way to request a song is to write it down and be polite about it. I’ve had people come up to my CD books/laptop before and ask if they can look through it for a song to request. That’s absolutely not okay.
Can you request a song to a DJ at a club?
Depends on the setting. If you’re going to a house/techno night at a club for example, you wouldn’t ever request a track. If it’s your local bar with DJ Dave, it’s probably acceptable! I’m always careful with taking tips though, some people act like they own you after that point.
