How often should a Harley be serviced?
every five thousand miles
Harley-Davidson® recommends that your motorcycle receive servicing at least every five thousand miles, depending upon rider, riding style and conditions. Sometimes more frequent oil changes can be warranted.
How often should oil be changed on a Harley?
Mineral oil should be replaced every 2,000 to 3,000 miles, or at least once a year. Some experts may recommend a minimum of twice a year. Synthetic oil should be replaced every 7,000 to 10,000 miles, or at least once a year. Semi-synthetic oil should be replaced every 5,000 to 6,000 miles, or at least once a year.
Why is motorcycle maintenance so expensive?
The more you ride your bike, the more expensive the repairs will be. Going off-road only increases the chances of wear and tear. Mud, rocks, dirt and other debris will damage your motorcycle over time, which means more money for repairs.
Are Harleys expensive to maintain?
If the average 5,000-mile service for a Harley motorcycle costs $400 on average, your annual maintenance costs will be $1600. If your annual mileage were, say, a little above 10,000 miles, your annual maintenance costs would be around $800.
