What is an in absentia convocation?
If you are unable to attend the convocation ceremony, you must submit an Application to Graduate in Absentia in addition to your Graduation Application. Students graduating in absentia can choose to have their parchments (degree) mailed or picked up at the Service Centre at a later date.

Should you dress up for convocation?
It’s better to be overdressed, but let the graduate shine Most invitations will state the ceremony dress code, but if you’re unsure, it’s safe to assume conservative yet dressy attire. You’ll feel more comfortable dressed up than dressed down, and whatever you do, don’t wear jeans!
Can you wear jeans to a graduation?
Clothes that are too formal, or not formal enough, will make you feel out of place when you should feel relaxed. Wearing jeans to your college graduation probably isn’t a smart choice, but a ball gown isn’t quite right, either. Aim for business or business casual for the ceremony.

In Absentia is a reduced-fee registration status for full-time, regularly enrolled students who find it necessary to undertake coursework or research related to their degree program outside of the designated local campus region for at least one full academic term.
Is it OK to not attend convocation?
It doesn’t really matter whether you have attended convocation or not. If you want to get your degree than you can directly approach to your concerned University where your degree will be available and you can get from there. So don’t bother with thing like you hadn’t attended convocation to get degree.
Can I get my degree before convocation?
Diplomas are normally distributed to new graduates at their Convocation ceremony, in either May or November. Diplomas are not available prior to your Convocation date. To PICK UP your diploma from Service Point, you must make an appointment.
What do girls wear in convocation?
Women are best wearing either dress pants or a shorter skirt underneath the gown, while men should choose khakis or dark-colored dress pants. Avoid brightly coloured bottoms if you choose to wear dress pants or a longer skirt, as they can be seen below the hem of the gown and stick to darker colours.
Can I wear red to graduation?
Similarly, black or other dark color shirt would also work well if your graduation gown is a bright color, such as royal blue or red. Ties are generally not required. However, you will look extra sharp with one that compliments the outfit! We recommend a different color from the gown so it doesn’t blend in on photos.
Is it OK to wear white to a graduation as a guest?
You could choose a skirt/slacks and top or a dressy jumpsuit, but this is a celebration of your hard work, so it’s always better to be overdressed than underdressed. For a spring graduation ceremony, I recommend a white, pastel, or floral dress.

When is the class of 2022 graduation ceremony?
On May 14, graduates, along with their families and friends, will come together in Kolf Sports Center, joined by guests from around the world, to participate in a celebration honoring the Class of 2022. Graduates please closely monitor your emails for information regarding your ceremony.
Can I request an alternate day for my convocation ceremony?
Our convocation celebrations are closely tied to your faculty and program of study. Equally, we want to ensure that all graduates have an equal opportunity to attend their appropriate ceremony. Given these details, we cannot allow alternate days or times. All graduates may request up to 4 tickets on a first come, first serve basis.
