What is fluorescent nylon?
Fluorescent nylon – high visibility in low light conditions and poor weather. Nylon is strong, dries quickly and doesn’t require ironing. Polyester / cotton non iron fabric – easy to care for as fabric doesn’t crease, durable, strong.
What is the difference between CORDURA and nylon?
There are two significant technical differences between the two. Ballistic nylon made of “filament” yards which are smooth and slick while CORDURA are texturized, which makes them slightly fuzzy like natural fiber. CORDURA has higher abrasion resistance, while ballistic nylon has higher tear resistance.
Which is stronger nylon or Cordura?
Ballistic is typically the heavier of the two fabrics and it generally has the superior tensile and tear strength. For reasons unknown, CORDURA® Classic typically has greater abrasion resistance.

Does nylon fluoresce?
Both the fluorescent and phosphorescent species in nylon-6,6 polymer are shown to originate from aldol condensation products of cyclopentanone. This is confirmed through a detailed luminescence/GC-mass spectrometry analysis of the products of the latter process.
Is Cordura waterproof?
100% Waterproof Cordura® Nylon is better than Neoprene Neoprene is waterproof yet it holds water near the surface of the cover giving you a damp place to sit. Cordura® is 100% water proof, non-porous, and water beads up and rolls off. Cordura® is also self extinguishing and will not act as an accelerant in a fire.

Like any other synthetic material, cordura has disadvantages. This is an expensive and heavy fabric, which in the cold, due to special impregnation, dubes. The waterproof function of Invista threads depends on the type of impregnation used in the manufacture.
Can you cut Cordura?
Q: Does CORDURA ® prevent knif stab or cut? A: No. CORDURA ® can be penetrated or slashed with sharp knife, but it will be very hard for object with blunt edges (such as rocks in the wilderness) to tear through CORDURA ®.
Does Cordura fray?
over time your raw edges may fray a little. I use polyester thread to sew Cordura and a long stitch length. I’ve found that the fabric sews easily with a roller foot or a teflon foot.
