How do Grip Shift gears work?
You may also have grip shift. This means you will have a dial that you twist forward and back to shift the gears. Twisting the dial forward will move the chain into a smaller, harder gear in the rear (right hand) and a smaller, easier gear in the front (left hand).
Which cog is the highest gear?
The highest gear is when the chain is on the largest cog on the front and the smallest cog on the rear. Limiter screws stop your derailleur from shifting the chain too far inwards or outwards off the cogs. When set correctly they prevent the frustrating occurrence of the chain falling off.
