Can Wintec saddles get wet?
Yes, your Wintec Saddle will not be harmed by water; however it is important to rinse it with fresh water following any swimming in salt water.
What Wintec saddle do I have?
Simply contact us with your serial number and we’ll do our best to tell you all about your saddle. Depending on the age of your saddle, your serial number will either be on a sewn in tag, or stamped on the under-flap of your saddle.
How long do horse saddles last?
A high-quality Western horse saddle can easily last 25 years, but you’ll be lucky to get five good years from a cheap saddle. Saddles will start to show signs of aging and can be uncomfortable for horses relatively quickly when you don’t take care of them.
Can you use saddle soap on synthetic saddles?
With a synthetic saddle, the elements are not an issue. So, toss the oil and the saddle soap. Not only are they unnecessary, but using these products isn’t good for a synthetic saddle.
How do you read a Wintec saddle serial number?
Age of your saddle If the first two characters in your serial number are a number 10 or higher, then the first two numbers represent the year of manufacture. For example, 10 = 2010, 11 = 2011 and so on.
What size is white gullet?
If your gullet has been changed after purchase the colours are sized as follows: Yellow – Narrow, Green – Medium Narrow, Black – Medium, Blue – Medium wide, Red – Wide, and White is Extra wide.
How do I know what size saddle fits me?
If you know your seat size in an English saddle, a good rule of thumb is to choose a Western saddle with a seat size two inches smaller than your typical English saddle size. Sit in the Western saddle. There should be about four inches between your body and the swell of the saddle.
Can I use Dawn dish soap to clean my saddle?
Dawn Dish Soap Dawn is another product that can assist in returning your horse’s markings to pearly white, but it also works wonders for your tack. If your saddle is really dirty, use a soft damp cloth and a dab of Dawn soap to work out the yuck. Once clean, condition or oil your tack to add back the fat.
Do you oil a synthetic saddle?
The billets on your synthetic saddle are leather, so it is important to condition them after cleaning. We recommend either a beeswax based leather balm or neatsfoot oil. You should only need to treat the billets once every few months – whenever they start to feel dry.
