What is a National Guard Readiness Center?
The Air National Guard Readiness Center (ANGRC) is based at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. Its mission is to ensure the combat readiness of Air National Guard units and act as a liaison between the National Guard Bureau (NGB) and the individual states and territories on Air National Guard operational activities.

The rules for guard members missing drill and what can be done about it vary from state to state. In practice, punishments for missing a part or all of a weekend drill range from nothing, to not being paid, to having to make up the drill, and in some rare instances arrest and punishment.
What happens if I miss one drill weekend?
Failure to call before you miss your drill weekend or immediately thereafter is considered an unexcused absence by the military. In the military, missing 4 hours of a required training equals one unexcused absence. Therefore, an entire weekend can add up to four unexcused absences.
How long can I stay in the IRR?
An enlisted service member’s IRR service ends after the completion of their mandatory service obligation (MSO), usually eight years. In the case of military retired personnel they can be recalled to active service up to age 60 if they had completed more than 20 years on active duty and are physically capable.
Does National Guard get BAH for drill?
The BAH rates have increased an average of 5.1% effective January 1, 2022. Basic Allowance for Housing is only available to active duty Soldiers. Army National Guard Soldiers on Drill status are not eligible.
