Is E10 gas the same as regular unleaded?
E10 is a blend of regular unleaded (RON 91) petrol and between 9% and 10% ethanol. Blending the ethanol at this ratio increases the RON to 94.
Is E10 gas the same as 87?
E10 gasoline (87 octane) is a regular gasoline formulated at an octane rating of 87. It’s a preferred variety of gasoline for many automobiles.
Is E10 still 95 octane?
The standard (95 octane) petrol has become E10. Almost all petrol vehicles on the road today can use E10 petrol and all cars built since 2011 are compatible, but some vehicles are not compatible and can’t use E10.
Can you put E10 in a Unleaded car?
Most petrol vehicles built after 2000 are compatible with E10. If your car is E10 compatible you can replace your unleaded petrol with E10 when you fill up. It’s ok to switch back and forth between E10 and other unleaded fuel types, where your manufacturer has advised these fuels are suitable for your vehicle.
Is E10 better than 91?
Ethanol is an octane booster for petrol, so E10 generally has an octane rating higher than 91. (Notionally it’s 94, but in practise it depends on exactly how much ethanol there is in the ‘up to 10%’ blend at any particular re-fill.) This means your car will perform slightly better on E10 – but there is a trade-off.
What cars are OK with E10 petrol?
Is my car E10 compatible? If your vehicle was built after 2010 it is compatible with E10 petrol. Most cars built between 2000 and 2010 are also compatible but there are some exceptions, including models from major brands such as Audi, Ford, Mercedes, Toyota and Volkswagen.

Is Shell V-Power E10 or E5?
If your vehicle or equipment is not compatible with E10 fuel, you will still be able to use E5 by purchasing Shell V-Power grade petrol from most Shell service stations. At Shell forecourts, we will clearly label petrol as either E10 or E5.
