What is a compensating fail in UL?
A D1 is what’s known as a compensating fail, mean that if you get a D1 but your QCA stays above 2.0 you won’t need to repeat the module. Your QCA is the average grade for the semester.

Students in the 2.1/1st discretion band with a final QCA between 3.35 and 3.39 receive the higher award. Students in the 2.1/1st discretion band with a final QCA between 3.30 and 3.34 receive the higher award if either their major option QCA or their final year QCA is at or above 3.35.
What is an I grade UL?
An I grade may be awarded to students who find themselves in an immediate crisis situation, coming up to or during an exam or final assessment period, which prevents them from being able to sit or complete their exams, assignments or placements.

– Exams normally scheduled to take place in August will now be completed online via alternative assessments.
